Do not use water on wood blinds. Blot the affected area until the stain is gone then blot dry with another clean cloth. Gently vacuum first on one side and then the other following the pleat. If dusting hasn t helped stains blotted clean with a damp cloth warm water and a mild detergent like dish soap.

Open it and lay out on a clean flat surface. To clean fingerprints or soiled spots use an aerosol spray foam upholstery or fabric cleaners such as woolite or scotchgard.

Repeat this until the stain is removed. Never submerge shades in water or get them overly wet. If you ve let your blinds or shades accumulate dirt or if spot cleaning just isn t getting the job done it s time to give your blinds or shades a bath. Before spot cleaning any colored fabric shade test a small area that cannot be seen with the mild soap detergent for smaller spots.

If the blinds are plastic or metal and you want to leave them in place to clean them make a 50 50 solution of warm water and white vinegar in a bowl or bucket. Get your sponge out of the soapy water and use it to lightly wipe the affected areas. Then fill your clean bathtub with warm soapy water and place them inside.
